CAL Alumni Club of Shanghai Gathered to welcome Prof. Knight at May 17, 2005

Robert Knight, one of Berkeley's top faculty & Professor of Neuroscience, Psychology and Neurology and Director of Berkeley's Helen Wills Neuroscience Institute, paid a very brief, yet extremely fruitful and interesting visit to China’s most vigorous city –Shanghai during May 14-18, 2005. Prof. Knight's visit to Shanghai was being coordinated by the Institute of Neurosciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Shanghai Jiaotong University Visits Berkeley

BCAIA took an active role in arranging Shanghai Jiaotong University visit to UC Berkeley. In May BCAIA President Robert Wu and wife Li-chun brought some proposals from Dean Newton of COE, Dean Campbell from Haas School of Business, and acting Dean Berring from Boalt Law school, to Chinese universities to explore the possibility of collaboration between universities of two countries. Following the initial contact, a delegation led by Chairwoman of the University Council, Madame Ma Dexiu scheduled a whole day visit to UC Berkeley on their way back home on Sept. 1. University Relation office arranged College of Engineering and Haas School of Business including MOT and SIMS for their visit. Robert Wu and Li-chun, BCAIA board member Sandy Chau and Sean Yao , Berkeley alumnus and Chairman for Jiaotung University Silicon Valley accompanied the delegation. BCAIA sister organization, BCSSA President Chungji Qian arranged graduate students to help out during different part of the visit. BCAIA VP Zhu Lei accompanied three visitors to meet with graduate's students that are interested in SJTU's present and future prospects in response to their recruiting session.
